There has been a growing awareness that the special needs of all family members. This awareness has generated interest and has led to the development and support services for families to assist them throughout the lifelong adjustment process. Within the family support services, respite care consistently has been identified by families as a priority need.

Respite care is an essential part of the overall support that families may need to keep their loved ones with a disability or chronic illness at home. Services can be provided in the client's home or in a variety of out of home settings. Since not all people have the same needs, respite care should always be geared to individual's needs by identifying the type of respite needed and matching the need to the services currently available, or using this information to develop services where none exist.

In order for Care managers to provides the services needed they develop spread sheets, databases, or word documents to keep track of client information. When a county has many care managers this creates numerous issues, by not being able to share client information.

This is were RecsPlus will help the care managers of clients, by keeping track of services that client receive while in the respite care program. RecsPlus was developed over the last few years out of the growing relationship between program care managers and clients. RecsPlus allows the care manager to keep notes about visits, or the next time that client needs to be seen. These are but a few things that a care manager needs to remember about their clients.
